Penicillin was later purified and used during World War II to treat a soldier who was infected when in a mission. After World War II, this "miracle drug" brought a new dawn in the field of medicine. Biologists and chemists began to use the drug to the general public as well as discover other forms of antibiotics.

Protection of people from smallpox

The idea of inoculating people against smallpox, mumps, and measles originated in ancient China.
